Teri Gatchel, MBA
Consultant and Speaker
As a former practice
administrator in both academic and private practice settings, Teri Gatchel
understands the daily issues facing physicians and staff in terms of developing
and managing effective business systems.
Ms. Gatchel has
significant experience in financial management, personnel management, managed
care contract negotiation, group development and recruitment, quality assurance
and utilization.
No stranger to
compliance issues, Ms. Gatchel has previously held key responsibility for the
office compliance plan for in both private and academic practice. Her knowledge of coding and reimbursement
issues is built on a solid foundation at UT Southwestern Medical Center,
including significant work to increase the overall cash flow for 16 clinical departments. Her successful effort to implement a
reimbursement appeal systems resulted in $1 million in additional revenue. Following in the wake of her work in the
centralized billing office, she served as the business operations manager for
the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at UT Southwestern and then succeeded to
the position of Administrator of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery.
As a member of the
KZA consulting team, Ms. Gatchel works with orthopaedic, otolaryngology,
neurosurgery, and plasti surgery practices to improve the billing and
collection process. Ms Gatchel also
teaches nationally as well as for local specialty societies.
Ms. Gatchel’s
healthcare experience also extends into the arena of internal and external
marketing. For her graduate thesis, she
wrote a book, “Millennium Marketing” focusing on the changing demographics of
aging baby-boomers.
Ms. Gatchel earned
her master’s degree in Business/Health Care Administration from the University
of Dallas. She also holds a bachelor’s
degree in Business/Finance from Texas Wesleyan University.
